Sometimes we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it/they arrive.
Some tend to ignore the significance of people in their lives when they’ve been around for so long. When you meet somebody that caught your attention, the sense of anticipation is there causing you to notice all his actions thus the “false notion of bigger impact” while disregarding others who have been with you for the longest time.
